Panjea (featuring Michael Kang) Updates
The powerful groove and socially conscious message of Panjea has its roots in the ghettos of Zimbabwe, where Chris Berry learned to play the Mbira and began commingling hip-hop and dancehall beats with traditional African rhythms. The music features lyrics that challenge the listener. It speaks of personal power, the ability to change one's own life and the world for the better and admonitions to those who would try to keep people from realizing their potential.
Now with mandolin/vocalist Michael Kang joining on fulltime, Panjea combine the best elements of African and American music into a tightly knit, compelling music that challenges the head and heart and moves the body. Featuring virtuosic musicianship, and an incredibly eclectic blend of cultures, this is a show not to be missed. Are you ready for this?
FREE Full Length CD Download
Panjea would like to thanks everyone who came out to see the band over the summer months. We are giving out a full length CD download compiled from various festivals we performed at this summer. You can download this music here. We are also in the process of launching a new website at www.panjeamusic.com. We encourage you to stop by frequently as new content, information, and news about the band is being updated over the coming weeks.
See Panjea LIVE on Halloween with Leftover Salmon
Panjea will perform at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver supporting Leftover Salmon on Halloween night! There will be another late night performance with location being announced soon. This late night event will immediately follow the Leftover Salmon show and run until 3:00am. Please stay tuned. We will also be playing an intimate show the night before at the B Side Lounge in Boulder, CO. The Aggie will host the band the following Thursday in Fort Collins.
